Dr. Monzavi is a Board-Certified periodontist and Implantologist. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of California Santa Barbara and her doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She pursued her post-graduate studies in the field of periodontology and implantology and completed her post-doctoral degree at Loma Linda University, where she received her certificate in advanced periodontology and implant surgery. During her residency program at Loma Linda, she became passionate about ceramic dental implants and was the first student to ever place a ceramic implant in a dental post-graduate residency program in the USA. Furthermore, she completed a scientific research project on the material properties of ceramic implants in collaboration with the University of California Santa Barbara material research lab.

Ceramic Dental Implants

Zirconia dental implants are metal free, biocompatible, tooth colored dental implants. Dr. Monzavi has years of experience, has lectured all around the world, and has studied extensively the benefits of choosing zirconia dental implants. Her researched and tested protocols aim to ensure the longevity and quick healing of each zirconia implant patient she treats.

Gum Recession

Gum grafting is periodontal surgery technique that can help people who have experienced gum recession. Gum recession is when the gum surrounding the tooth has pulled away, due to gingivitis, Periodontitis, aggressive brushing, or genetics, causing the roots of the teeth to become exposed.

Gummy Smile Correction

A gummy smile exposes a larger than average amount of gum tissue and has a noticeably disproportionate gum-to-tooth ratio.

Ridge Augmentation

It is a bone grafting technique that refers to re-growing a damaged jaw bone so that it can accept a dental implant. In order to place a successful dental implant, the jaw bone needs to be of adequate volume and consistency. If the tooth has been missing for a long time, or the bone was lost as a result of an infection or trauma, then the bone volume is usually inadequate for supporting a dental implant.

OUR SPECIALTY

Ceramic implants are tooth colored, esthetic, metal free and very tissue compatible. Zirconia dental implants provide no allergic reactions and sensitivity to temperature and have an aesthetic advantage over titanium implants. Good esthetic results can also be obtained with titanium implants however in cases of gum recession, shrinkage and thin gums, titanium can reveal unsightly gray lines which will not be the case with regards to Zirconia implants.

In addition, it does not corrode and will not have any impact on taste in the mouth. Lastly, Zirconia implants are a viable alternative for patients who are not comfortable with or are not able to tolerate metal (titanium) implants in their mouths.
